Description: Jurisdictions face increasing difficulties in funding their materials management activities (such as recycling and composting), and finding new models for local funding will be necessary to sustain these activities into the future.  Streamlining and incentivizing local permitting and siting of infrastructure also is needed if we are to be ready to build the new and expanded manufacturing (from recycled materials) infrastructure in California that will be necessary to achieve the 75% goal.

This is the initial workshop in CalRecycle’s effort to explore local case studies, samples, and strategies for the funding and siting of recycling programs, activities, and infrastructure.  Staff will briefly review various approaches and concepts that already have been brought forth by stakeholders and solicit additional ideas on this topic with respect to local-level needs and financial resources (state-level funding and siting assistance is not the focus of this workshop). Ample time will be available for comments and questions. This is not a policy workshop.

If you are unable to participate in this workshop, please send comments to and also be apprised that there will be additional webinars and activities on this topic in the next several months.
