Association of Educational Buyers, the National Wildlife Federation hosted this
course entirely via the Internet. The webcast, available through October 2002,

on recycled paper, shade-grown coffee, green energy, and sustainably harvested
wood.

Materials Showcase
This event showcases the latest
resource-efficient materials to the design and construction community of
Northern California. Products include building materials from nonvirgin or
renewable resources that feature high recycled content, low embodied energy,
long life span, and no or low VOCs. Presentations by experts in the green
building industry will take place every 30 minutes, highlighting the latest
developments and technologies.

Workshop: Managing the Markets

This
workshop took place during WASTECON 2002, an event sponsored by the Solid Waste
Association of North America (SWANA). Topics included how buying recycled fits
into the recycling equation, how to create a demand for recycled products, how
to require contractors and grantees to use recycled products, the importance of
record keeping, and the contracting process.

workshop focused on increasing your sales to State agencies by providing you
information on the State Agency Buy Recycled Campaign (SABRC), recycled-content
certification, effective ways to sell to State agencies, marketing your products
as recycled-content products, California Multiple Award Schedules (CMAS), the
California State Contracts Register (CSCR), and the Small Business and Disabled
Veteran Business Enterprise participation programs.

The Recycled-Content Product Library Tour and Open House was a "hands-on"
experience with the world of environmentally preferable products (EPP)--products
with reduced effects on human health and the environment. There were almost 800
product samples ranging from office products, to paint, oil, building and
construction products, organics, and more.
