California Electronic Waste Recycling Act Regulatory Workshop:
October 19, 2005
As the
Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003
(SB 20
and SB 50, Sher) is
implemented, workshops will be held to inform
and receive input from affected stakeholders and other interested parties.The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) held a workshop for interested parties regarding proposed revisions to emergency regulations Wednesday, October 19, 2005 , from 9:00 a.m. until approximately 2:00 p.m. at the Cal/EPA Headquarters Building in Sacramento.
As provided in previous workshops, a general audio "webcast" was available. Web-based participants were able to submit comments via e-mail during the event through the ewaste@calrecycle.ca.gov address.
Participants were encouraged to bring their own copy of existing regulations and the proposed revisions for reference.

Program staff presented proposed revisions to existing emergency
regulations governing the Electronic Waste Recycling Act's covered
electronic waste (CEW) recovery and recycling payment system at the
CIWMB's
October 4, 2005 Sustainability and Market Development Committee meeting.
As a result of that meeting, program staff convened a workshop for
stakeholders to further consider the proposed revisions. Staff will then
return to the Committee and Board in November with program
recommendations.

To maximize meaningful participation, stakeholders were encouraged to review applicable statutes and regulations, and to prepare specific comments prior to attending the meeting. To ensure that key issues are received, comments could be sent in advance to ewaste@calrecycle.ca.gov.
