Meeting California's E-Waste Challenge: A Survey of California Local Government
Electronics Recycling Programs
The primary goal of this survey was to document the costs and implementation experience of California's local government electronics recycling programs. This information
may help local governments increase recycling levels and save money by bolstering
the CIWMB's efforts to secure support from other stakeholders for electronics recycling and by providing standardized, comparable statistics that can help program managers learn from each other. The data collected
was analyzed and compared with data on programs from across California and the
nation, including the CIWMB's survey on concerns related to CRTs and Universal Wastes and the recycling program surveys conducted by the National Electronics Product Stewardship Initiative
(NEPSI), the County of Fresno, and the
Northeast Recycling
Council.
