  • British Glass Manufacturers Confederation (www.britglass.org.uk) is a focal point for British glass industry activities.
  • California Recycling Advocacy Associations. Recycling advocacy associations actively promote the recovery and use of secondary materials. The California Resource Recovery Association (http://www.crra.com), the Northern California Recycling Association (http://www.webolution.com/NCRA/) and Californian's Against Waste (http://www.igc.apc.org/caw/) are three leading California recycling advocacy groups.
  • Chicago Board of Trade (http://cbot-recycle.com/indexst.html) is a recyclables exchange dedicated to the international trade of recyclable commodities.
  • Clean Washington Center (CWC), at http://www.cwc.org, is the organization in the State of Washington that develops markets for recycled materials.
  • Consumers Glass (http://www.web.net/~glass) is Canada's only manufacturer of glass containers and principal purchaser of recycled glass.
  • Department of Conservation, Division of Recycling (http://www.consrv.ca.gov/DOR/index.htm) manages California's beverage container recycling program and collects data on food and beverage container glass recycling. The Division of Recycling also maintains a list of certified glass processors, some of which also beneficiate glass.

  • Glass Packaging Institute (GPI), at http://www.gpi.org/about.htm, serves as the voice for the glass container industry in Washington, D.C., and across the country.
  • Global Recycling Network's Internet Recycling Business Center (http://grn.com) is a free-access public site dedicated to recycling-related information.
  • Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), at http://www.isri.org, an international trade association of processors, brokers, and consumers of metallic and nonmetallic scrap commodities. The institute's (http://www.isri.org) Commodities Report is published 24 times a year and focuses on a single scrap commodity in each issue. The Commodities Report also provides domestic and export market analysis.
  • Newton's Apple (http://ericir.syr.edu/Projects/Newton/10/lessons/GlssRecycl.html) provides answers to school-age questions about glass recycling. For example, "What happens to my glass bottles after I put them in a recycling bin?"
  • Recycling Coordinators. Nearly every incorporated city in California has a recycling coordinator that should be able to help you in identifying either markets for or sources of recovered glass.
  • Recycling Manager (http://grn.com/grn/prices/rm-prices.htm) publishes free-access U.S. prices and commodity market summaries. Prices are based on representative volumes delivered to consumers in each market area.
  • Recycler's World (http://www.recycle.net/recycle) is a free worldwide information exchange for those who wish to buy, sell or trade recyclable commodities, used materials and collectible items. Secondary materials can be direct marketed through this free-access public site. Price information is available.
