Web Content Accessibility

Our Commitment to Accessibility

The State of California is strongly committed to improved accessibility for all Californians, and the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) intends that its website and other communications can be reached by the widest possible audience regardless of disability, limitations of computer equipment, or use of alternate Internet access devices.

Government Code section 11546.7 (Assembly Bill 434, Baker) requires state agencies and departments to certify that their website is compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG 2.0), Conformance Level AA standard. These guidelines and standards require state website to be accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities such as visual impairments. CalRecycle’s certification was first posted on June 30, 2020, and is updated biannually.

We believe that CalRecycle satisfies guidelines, for “AA” compliance of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0. In addition, we believe that CalRecycle satisfies Section 508, Subpart B, Subsection 1194.22, Guidelines A-P of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as revised in 1998. We are continually striving to improve the accessibility of our website.

In May 2019, CalRecycle installed the AudioEye toolbar to our website to provide accessibility tools to the public. This toolbar allows for a fuller user experience by providing a means for the user to change color contrast and font style and size attributes. It also contains a screen reader and a help form to report problems with the toolbar.

The State of California accepts no responsibility for the content or accessibility of the external websites or external documents linked to on this website.

Documents on This Site

This web site contains links to PDF documents that require the most current version of Adobe Reader to view. The Adobe Acrobat Reader may already be installed on your computer as a “plug-in” or “helper application” for your web browser. To find out, click on the “PDF” link for the document you are interested in. If the Adobe Acrobat Reader is properly installed on your computer, the Reader will either download or automatically open a PDF copy of the document, depending on your browser and how it is configured. If the Adobe Acrobat Reader is not installed on your computer, it can be found, free of charge, at the Adobe Acrobat Reader download page.

If you are using a screen reader, you may find it will not read some documents in PDF format. Adobe provides a web site that will convert nonaccessible PDF files to a format that is useable with a screen reader. The Adobe Access site is located at https://www.adobe.com/accessibility.html, and the tool can also be added to your computer as a “plug-in.”

If you require accommodation to access these presentations pursuant to California accessibility requirements, please contact the CalRecycle Webmaster (see contact information at the bottom of this page).
