Dear Ms. Nauman and Mr. Avera:

RE: EAC Resolution 00-07

It has come to the attention of the EAC that the CIWMB is in the process of evaluating several Board approved policies. The solid waste industry has evolved very rapidly over the last few years and past policies may no longer reflect the current administration's goals. The EAC concurs with the necessity to analyze these past policies and would like to offer its assistance and expertise in this evaluation process. Therefore, the EAC voted unanimously to pass Resolution 00-07.

Since the EAC was formed to assist the CIWMB in promoting better solid waste management through partnership, we have worked with Board staff in the development of most of the policies currently being considered for evaluation. These policies were developed with extensive input from LEAs throughout the State and have a direct influence on how local solid waste enforcement is implemented.

The EAC would like to continue to play a major role in the analysis, tracking, and development of recommendations regarding all permitting and enforcement policies and regulations. Our involvement would help assure that the concerns of all the LEAs in the State are reflected in the evaluation process and that all LEAs are aware of the progress made in this evaluation process.

Resolution 00-07:

In the spirit of partnership 2000, the EAC requests the CIWMB staff seek input from EAC during the process of evaluating all Board established policies.
