Subject: EAC Letter on Concerns Regarding E-Waste Management

Dear Ms. Harris:

I am forwarding the attached letter dated May 6, 2002 from the California Integrated Waste Management Board’s (CIWMB) Enforcement Advisory Council (EAC), regarding questions on electronic and universal waste issues. For reference, the EAC serves as an advisory body to the CIWMB on technical issues regarding solid waste management. The EAC’s members represent the issues and perspectives of the various local enforcement agencies (LEA) statewide. Our response to the letter, dated July 9, 2002 is also attached.

Please keep me informed as to your action regarding the EAC’s requests and send us a copy of any correspondence you generate in response to their concerns. Previously, we gave a copy of the EAC letter to your staff, Charles Corcoran at the CIWMB’s E-Waste Work Group meeting on June 13, 2002. We welcome DTSC to elaborate on the e-waste, household and universal waste management issues specified in the attached letter from EAC.

Thank you for your assistance. Should you have any questions or comments concerning the above matter, please contact Sue Happersberger at (916) 341-6383.
