Subject: Selection of Tammy Derby as the 2005 Recipient of the LEA/EA Annual Achievement Award - Ralph Hunter Memorial Award

Dear Mr. Prinz:

This letter is in response to Enforcement Advisory Council (EAC) Resolution 2005-04, which was passed at the May 11, 2005 EAC meeting.

This EAC resolution confirms the EAC Awards Committee’s selection of the very capable and deserving Tammy Derby, Sacramento County LEA, as the 2005 recipient of the LEA/EA Annual Achievement Award (the Ralph Hunter Memorial Award).

The memorial award was established by EAC to recognize accomplished and outstanding LEA/EA individuals, such as Tammy Derby, whose commendable contributions in environmental health programs have benefited the citizens of California. The award is especially meaningful since recipients have been nominated by their peers as making significant contributions.

I personally have witnessed Tammy’s contributions in venues ranging from discussions about site-specific enforcement issues, to EAC discussions on issues of statewide importance, to training and outreach to broad groups of stakeholders.

CIWMB continues to appreciate participating on the Awards Committee with EAC and California Conference of Directors of Environmental Health (CCDEH) Solid Waste Policy Committee in evaluating nominations for the LEA/EA Annual Achievement Award - Ralph Hunter Memorial Award.

The CIWMB joins the EAC in congratulating Tammy Derby for her achievements and contributions to solid waste enforcement in California.
