Informal Review of Draft Enforcement Regulations and Announcement of Upcoming Workshops

California Integrated Waste Management Board (Board) staff have been working with Local Enforcement Agency (LEA) representatives to develop draft enforcement related regulations. These proposed regulations are intended to:

• update existing Title 14 regulations to make them consistent with the PRC changes brought about by Assembly Bill 59;

• add regulations regarding how the Board determines if an LEA is taking appropriate enforcement action, and procedures the Board must follow prior to taking enforcement action in an LEA’s jurisdiction;

• clarify and update existing enforcement regulations to account for tiers, Title 27, etc.

The draft regulations are available through the Internet at http://www.calrecycle.ca.gov/Laws/Rulemaking/Archive/default.htm#1998/, for your review and comment. We encourage you to submit your comments in writing to the address listed below by September 11, 1998.

Additionally, the Board will be hosting two workshops to receive comments verbally and answer any questions about them. The first workshop is on Tuesday, August 25, 1998, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, at the following location:
