This all LEA E-mail was sent on behalf of Julie Nauman, Deputy Director of the Permitting and Enforcement Division and the LEA Support Services Branch of the California Integrated Waste Management Board. These Board Meeting summaries will be sent after each Board Meeting.

Board Meeting: Tuesday, February 19, 2002

  • The Board concurred in five solid waste facility permits.
  • The Board approved the proposed regulations for Hazardous Waste Disposal Facilities Disposing Nonhazardous, Nonputrescible, Industrial Solid Waste.
  • The Board directed staff to update the Alternative Daily Cover State Minimum Standards. An informal rule making process will be initiated and more training and technical assistance will be provided to LEAs and other interested parties.
  • The Chair announced the formation of Board sub-committees that will focus on program areas as follows: Budget, Special Waste and Markets, Diversion Planning and Local Assistance, and Permitting and Enforcement. The subcommittees will be comprised of three Board members. The Chair announced Board members Jones, Medina and Roberti as the members of the Permitting and Enforcement Sub-committee. More details will follow.
  • The Executive Director announced that beginning next month the Board meetings will be broadcast to the public. The audio broadcast should be available from almost any PC.
