This all LEA e-mail was sent on behalf of Scott Walker, Acting Deputy
Director of the Permitting & Enforcement (P&E) Division and the LEA
Support Services Branch of the California Integrated Waste Management
Board. These Board and P&E Committee Meeting summaries will be sent
after each Board and P&E Committee Meeting.
Permitting and Enforcement Committee Meeting: Monday, August 12, 2002
Board Meeting: August 20 & 21, 2002
Board and P&E Committee Meeting Summary:
- The P&E Committee proposed three solid waste facility permits for
consent and the Board approved.
- The public hearing for the Transfer/Processing of Construction and
Demolition/Inert Debris (Phase I) Regulations was heard at the P&E
Committee. The Committee directed staff to reconvene stakeholder
meetings and return in September with options for the proposed
regulations for the Committee’s consideration.
- The Board directed staff to notice a 15-day public comment period
for the proposed regulations for Compostable Materials Handling
Operations and Facilities.
- The Board directed staff to begin the informal development phase for
draft regulations for Long Term Gas Violations.
- The Board determined that conformance findings will be required for
nondisposal facilities located at a permitted landfill. A separate
e-mail on this item will be sent giving further guidance.
- The P&E Committee will hold a workshop at the September meeting on
landfill capacity.
- This was Senator Roberti’s last Board meeting. Senator Roberti’s
term expires January 1, 2003.
- The next P&E Committee meeting is on Wednesday September 4 and the
next Board meeting will be on September 17-18 in Sacramento. The P&E
Committee and Board meetings are being
audio broadcast and are available from almost any personal computer
with Internet access.
