Permitting and Enforcement Committee Workshop

This all LEA e-mail was sent on behalf of the LEA Support Services Branch and Board Member Mike Paparian, Chair of the Permitting and Enforcement Committee, CIWMB.

Starting in July, the Permitting and Enforcement Committee will begin conducting a series of informal short workshops during the regularly scheduled P&E committee meeting. Board Member Paparian and the Committee members (Board Members Medina, Jones and Roberti) are holding the workshops in order to hear from stakeholders regarding any needed policy or business practices to improve the work that we do.

As a kick-off, the Committee seeks input from the LEAs on issues involving the work done in partnership between the Board and LEAs. While there is a long list of issues to discuss, the July workshop will focus on the following topics:

• Obstacles or challenges you encounter in carrying out the laws, regulations and policies for solid waste oversight.
• Suggestions to strengthen communication between the Board and LEAs.
• Regulatory overlap issues between the Water Board and the CIWMB and impacts, if any, on the work of LEAs.

Ms. Anderson will be working with Justin Malan, Executive Director of the CCDEH (916-944-7315) to coordinate speakers, panel guests and other workshop arrangements.
