Survey on Barriers to Construction and Demolition Debris Reuse and Recycling in California

This all LEA e-mail was sent on behalf of the LEA Support Services Branch, and Allison Spreadborough, Permitting and Inspection Branch of the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB).

The CIWMB realizes that LEAs perform the main role for regulatory oversight at all solid waste facilities. As you conduct your work in this fashion, we hope that you can also help the CIWMB in our efforts to identify the major barriers to the reuse and recycling of construction and demolition (C&D) debris, a major component of solid waste disposal in California.

Your opinion matters and we seek your help by participating in our easy on-line survey before October 15, 2004. Your participation in this survey will provide the CIWMB with information needed to encourage more reuse and recycling of C&D resources. The survey results will be presented at a November 2004 Board meeting, and if you participate in this survey, we will e-mail you in advance about the date, time, location, and Agenda Item number. Thank you for your participation!

Follow the four steps below to complete the survey:

1. Complete the General Information section.
2. From the list of Barrier Categories, select what you think are the "top five" barriers.

a. Enter your selections in the Top Five Ranking boxes.  Enter one barrier number in each box.  Use whole numbers, (e.g 1,2,3…12).  To see a list of barrier category examples, click on the Barrier Category title.

b.  In addition, if you believe there is one specific barrier out of all the examples listed for a particular barrier category                 that you selected, please copy and paste from the list of barrier category examples (or type) the specific barrier into the Comments box to the right of the barrier category you selected.  If the list of barrier category examples does not include what you want, enter your own custom example.

c. To enter additional Barrier Categories that are not listed in this survey, use the Comments box to the right of Barrier                 Category 13, “Other.”

3. General comments about this survey, or about barriers to C&D debris reuse and recycling in California, may be entered in the General Comments box near the end of the survey.
4. Click the Submit Survey button at the end of the survey, and you're done!
