Compliance Toolbox-Request for LEA Cases

The Compliance Toolbox Working Group needs your assistance for the continued development of the Compliance Toolbox web page.

During the upcoming LEA Roundtables, members of the working group will discuss a self-tutorial component of the Toolbox and how LEA staff can get involved. In order to create a tool that will benefit LEA and Board staff, the work group would like to collect any digital pictures and inspection report write-ups pertaining to state minimum standard (SMS) compliance issues that you have encountered during a landfill inspection.

Please send any information by November 17, 2006 by using the attached document (Adobe PDF, 47 KB | MS Word, 89 KB) as a template or by sending information to any of the working group members listed in the table below.

We are requesting information on the following SMS:

• Site Security
• Litter Control
• Grading
• Daily Cover
• Drainage and Erosion
• Site Maintenance

Background: At its September 13, 2006, meeting The Enforcement Advisory Council supported the development of a self-tutorial to help LEAs and Board staff evaluate solid waste facilities and operations for compliance with State Minimum Standards (SMS). This self-tutorial will be an element of the Compliance Toolbox Web Site, which is currently under development. The self-tutorial will become part of the training curriculum and will provide on-going guidance for LEA and Board staff to help promote statewide consistency in evaluating SMS.
