Local Enforcement Agency Correspondence Guidance: Avian Influenza in Birds |
|
|
Date: May 7, 2007 To: All LEAs Attached for your information is a document titled: "Scenario-Based State Agency Review, Public Health Considerations for Detection of Avian Influenza in Birds (HPAI H5N1)." The California Departments of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), the California Department of Health Services (CDHS), and the California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG) prepared the document for use by local agricultural, public health, and environmental health programs. It is intended to offer an overview of issues to assist local planning, response, and risk communication. Please note that the document is intended for government use and not for general public distribution. CDFA, CDHS, and CDFG prepared the document in consultation with other state agencies, including the California Environmental Protection Agency. However, since the intended purpose is to provide guidance related to the actions of the primary responding agencies (CDFA, CDHS, and CDFG), the level of detail as it relates to the guidance from other State agencies is limited. For more information related to the dead animal disposal and decontamination, please see the document entitled: "Cal/EPA, Emergency Animal Disease, Regulatory Guidance for Disposal and Decontamination" (Adobe PDF). |
