Organics Summit Announcement

This All LEA e-mail announces the Organics Summit at the Strategic Policy Development Committee on October 10 and is being sent to you on behalf of the Local Assistance and Market Development Division of the Sustainability Program and the Solid Waste Outreach and Training Team of the Waste Compliance and Mitigation Program.

On October 10 there will be an Organics Summit at the Strategic Policy Development Committee, from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. in the Coastal Hearing Room in the CalEPA Building in Sacramento. This summit will include a composters panel discussion and a collaborative exchange of ideas between CIWMB and stakeholders to develop a common understanding and plan for the future about compostable and cellulosic organic materials. Concurrent breakout sessions will facilitate an open discussion of opportunities, barriers, challenges, and potential solutions to help formulate a CIWMB road map for the future of organic materials. The breakout session topics will include infrastructure expansion, funding considerations and non-monetary incentives, regulatory and siting issues, market issues and increasing procurement, CIWMB policy and legislative options.
