Guidance on Recycled Material Storage at Solid Waste Facilities
The economic slowdown in recycling markets and the movement of recycled commodities around the globe are directly impacting solid waste facilities and resulting in the increased need for long-term, on-site storage of processed materials. What can be done to address the slowdown in recycled materials leaving solid waste sites? The attached guidance contains some strategies and tools to help LEAs and facility operators address the situation while reducing compliance issues.
The CIWMB will be discussing the California recyclables and commodities markets December 10, 2008 during the Market Development and Sustainability Committee Meeting.
