Input Sought on the Implementation of AB 274: State Solid Waste Postclosure and Corrective Action Trust Fund

Stakeholders are invited to provide input on the implementation and administration of Assembly Bill 274 (Portantino), Chapter 318, Statutes of 2009, which establishes the State Solid Waste Postclosure and Corrective Action Trust Fund (Trust Fund). The new law authorizes solid waste disposal facility operators to elect to participate in the Trust Fund by paying a quarterly fee based on tons of waste disposed. The Trust Fund would be used to cover the cost of postclosure activities and corrective actions in those situations where owners or operators of solid waste disposal facilities fail to perform necessary actions and all financial assurances are exhausted.

The workshop will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on January 28, 2010, at the CalEPA Building, Room 550, in Sacramento. An agenda will be available closer to the workshop date.
