Spanish Fact Sheets and Revised Medical Waste Fact Sheet Now Available

Date: April 24, 2009

To: All LEAs

In January of 2008, the California Integrated Waste Management Board released nine fact sheets for local enforcement agencies and solid waste facility operators. The fact sheets cover a range of topics including load-checking, litter, traffic and physical hazards and provide guidance in daily operation of solid waste facilities. In addition to the English fact sheets, Spanish translations of each of the fact sheets are now available.

The medical waste fact sheet has been updated to reflect the September 2008 change in the law that makes it illegal to dispose of home-generated sharps waste in the trash or recycling containers, and requires that all sharps waste be transported to a collection center in an approved sharps container.

If you would like to order copies of the fact sheets you can use our online order form.
