The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) offered six, one day training classes to LEAs and Board staff who perform field activities regularly and have the potential to encounter known hazardous environments. The goal of this training was to emphasize the importance of safety practices and provide heightened awareness of potential hazards encountered in the field.

Summary

112 LEAs representing 38 jurisdictions from throughout the state attended, as did 74 Board staff. Attendees were offered four hours of continuing education credit from the Solid Waste Association of North America.

Instructor

Mr. Carl Palladino has 21 years experience as a Project Manager, Chemist, Chemistry Teacher, and Product Assurance Engineer, the last 15 years as an environmental consultant. Mr. Palladino provides a wide range of environmental and emergency management services for private companies and governmental agencies. Mr. Palladino’s diverse experience includes working in hazmat emergencies, managing hazardous and radioactive waste investigations and remediation, consulting for emergency management and counterterrorism projects. His credentials also include designing and implementing air quality studies, developing quality assurance and quality control programs and developing and conducting health and safety trainings. He has taught over 150 technical and safety classes and is recognized as an outstanding and effective trainer. Mr. Palladino is principal consultant with The Palladino Company, Inc. based in San Francisco, California.
