Class Description

The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) offered six one-day training classes to local enforcement agencies (LEA) and CalRecycle staff who perform field activities regularly and have the potential to encounter known hazardous environments. The goal of this training was to emphasize the importance of safety practices and provide heightened awareness of potential hazards encountered in the field.

Class Objectives

  • Review causes of workplace injury and illness in the field.
  • Maintain employee awareness of risks associated with hazards in the field.
  • Review hazard assessment and prevention methods to prevent injury in the field.
  • Attendees met the refresher training requirements per California Code of Regulations (CCR), General Industry Safety Orders, Title 8, Section 5192.

Instructor

Carl Palladino, President of the Palladino Company, Inc. San Francisco, CA. Mr. Palladino has 21 years experience as a project manager, chemist, chemistry teacher, and product assurance engineer. The last 15 years he has worked as an environmental consultant. Mr. Palladino provides a wide range of environmental and emergency management services for private companies and governmental agencies. Mr. Palladino’s diverse experience includes working in hazmat emergencies, managing hazardous and radioactive waste investigations and remediation, consulting for emergency management and counterterrorism projects.
