LEA and Facility Operator Training

Inspector Field Training Tour, June 2007

June 2007
Northern and Southern California Tours

Field training is the first phase in a new inspector’s education. Field training of all solid waste personnel is essential and has the following benefits:

  • Promotes consistency in performing solid waste facility inspections.
  • Exposes inspectors to a wide range of facility types, sizes and operational methods.
  • Offers an extremely rare opportunity to see several solid waste facilities in multiple LEA jurisdictions in a two day tour segment. (Participants can also sign up for multiple segments and see more facility types.)
  • Builds confidence for new inspectors.
  • Acquaints tour members with alternative waste treatment and disposal arrangements.
  • Addresses State regulatory requirements using real examples.

Goals of the Workshop

  • Get a first hand understanding of the range of California solid waste facilities.
  • Develop a mental "yardstick" of the size and scope of solid waste operations.
  • See the latest technology in action.
