Workshop: Slope Stabilization, Fire-Ravaged Lands, and Water Management

The Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) conducted a free workshop on March 30, 2010, where Dr. David Crohn with UC Riverside Extension presented findings from his research on the effects of compost on water infiltration and stormwater runoff on burned and graded slopes in Riverside, California. CalRecycle co-funded this project to gather data and information on how various compost applications benefit slope stabilization, water infiltration, and water holding capacity of disturbed soils. Information on the chemical and physical constituents in the stormwater runoff on various test beds with and without compost applications was also collected.

For additional information, contact Dr. David Crohn, University of California, Riverside.
