Household Universal Waste Generation in California

Description: 133 page(s). This report examines California jurisdictions’ capacity to handle universal waste (u-waste) and householders’ awareness and utilization of household hazardous waste (HHW) facilities and events. Report presents survey findings relative to county HHW programs that collect and manage u-waste items--fluorescent tubes, household batteries, and mercury thermostats. Included are cost estimates for handling programs in FY 2000-01 and projections of u-waste generation and costs local HHW jurisdictions will incur to manage u-wastes in 2006. Also included are results of statewide householder survey.
