Waste Tire Playground Cover Grant Program

Grant Profile: City of Gridley

Location: Vierra Park, City of Gridley, Butte County
Grant ID: #TR22-02-5471

The city previously received a State Parks and Recreation Roberti-Z’berg-Harris (RHZ) grant for $189,000. A component of the award is the replacement of the current equipment at each of the three playground sites in the city’s primary public park, Vierra Park. The purchase, installation, and site preparation work was included in the RHZ award. The city utilized recycled tire tiles as ground cover to complete two of the three sites to provide access to the equipment under Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. The Waste Tire Playground Grant funded the cost of the recycled tire tiles creating a safer playground.

This project diverted 3,787 California waste tires from landfills.
