Waste Tire Playground Cover Grant Program

Grant Profile: City of Laguna Hills

Location: Clarington Park, City of Laguna Hills, Orange County
Grant ID: #TR22-02-5442

The city renovated 2.9 acres of Clarington Park during fiscal year 2002-2003. Clarington Park is a neighborhood park serving the northwest portion of the city and contained decaying wood playground equipment that did not meet current Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), or American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) guidelines. In addition to providing an overall renovation to the park, the project provided a barrier free path to the play area; new, fully compliant, accessible, recycled-content playground equipment; and accessible safety surfacing. Clarington Park playground now allows children with and without disabilities to have a safe, fun, and exciting place to play.

This project diverted 991 California waste tires from landfills
