Funding

The California Integrated Waste Management Board has experienced a significant decrease (over the past several fiscal years) in the revenue that supports a number of our programs. The affected funds that have experienced a revenue decline include the Used Oil Recycling Fund and the Integrated Waste Management Account. As a result of the decline in oil-related revenues, the balance available for the Used Oil Block Grant Program funding in the 2009/10 Governor’s Budget has been reduced to $6 million from $10 million. This will reduce the amount awarded to individual jurisdictions to approximately 55-58 percent of previous awards, subject to the minimums for cities and counties of $5,000 and $10,000, respectively. The change in Used Oil Block Grant funding levels was discussed at the February 24, 2009, Board meeting, as agenda item 11.
