Used Oil Recycling Program

Opportunity Grants

The California Integrated Waste Management Board (now CalRecycle) issued Local Government Opportunity Grants (OG) from fiscal year 1993-94 through 2007-08 to help local governments establish or enhance permanent, sustainable used oil recycling programs.

The Used Oil Opportunity Grant was designed to increase oil collection opportunities thereby reducing the potential for illegal disposal. All California local governments agencies, cities, counties or regional programs (consisting of several cities and/or counties) were eligible. Opportunity Grants were competitive grants that can provide additional funding to augment or expand oil collection and informational programs established by Used Oil Block Grants.
