Used Oil Recycling Program
Used Oil Haulers
Used oil haulers must be registered with the Department of Toxics Substances Control (DTSC) prior to transporting used oil to a used oil recycling facility. Industrial generators or certified used oil collection centers that file used oil recycling incentive claims (16 cents per gallon of used oil collected) must show that a registered transporter was used to transport the used oil. If a registered transporter (i.e. used oil hauler) was not used, the claim for the used oil recycling incentive will be denied.
Use of a registered transporter is necessary by individuals who need to transport greater than 55 gallons of used oil; industrial generators; and certified used oil collection centers intending to file a used oil recycling incentive claim with CalRecycle.
Locate a Hauler
See DTSC's Registered Hazardous Waste Transporter database to locate a hauler who is currently registered (Note: CalRecycle does not endorse or recommended any particular company).
Oil Recycling Facilities
- California--A list of used oil recycling facilities in California is available on this site for registered transporters. All DTSC permitted used oil transfer facilities within California are currently considered to be registered in-state facilities.
- Out-of-State--A list of registered out-of-state used oil recycling facilities and transfer stations is also available to assist hazardous waste transporters hauling used oil for processing.
