Used Oil Recycling Program Self Evaluation

Performance Measures

As previously stated, the success of any used oil collection program rests on the combination of:

  • Ample and convenient collection opportunities.
  • Public awareness of these opportunities.

To meet these needs, successful grantees build their programs around the following seven activities.

May have collection programs for agricultural oil, marinas, or airports.

Public Education & Outreach All publicity & education targeted to likely DIYers or school-age students.

Uses variety of outreach methods, including Community-Based Social Marketing (CBSM) where appropriate.

Premiums distributed after survey or pledge card signed and premiums act as prompts that DIYers use during or soon after oil change.

Most publicity & education closely targeted to likely DIYers or school-age students.

Site Visits to Certified Collection Centers (CCC)
Minimum is 1 CCC visit for every 100,000 people
Annual visits (or more frequent) to 75% or more CCCs. Two visits per center per year is ideal. Annual visits at least the minimum number of CCCs, up to 74% of all CCCs visited. Fewer than minimum required.
Adherence to CalRecycle Reporting Requirements Reports consistently complete and on time; detailed reporting. Reports generally complete and on time. Reports consistently incomplete or late.
