Materials for the Arts Program
Overview
The Materials for the Arts Program is a program provided by the Monroe County Solid Waste Management District and diverts overstocked, discontinued, blemished, and otherwise reusable materials from local businesses and industry and provides them to area schools, nonprofit daycare facilities, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, etc.
History
The Materials for the Arts Program has been in operation since 1996.
Materials Accepted
Non-hazardous materials such as crafts and art supplies (e.g., crayons, construction paper, markers, pencils, fabric, buttons, clay, etc.), seeds and items for gardening projects, gardening supplies (e.g., potting soil, birdseed, etc.), scrap lumber, plexi-glass in usable sizes (for birdhouse/birdfeeder or other building projects), small tools (for shop class, gardening, etc.), wallpaper or old wallpaper books (for collage making in preschools), miss-cut keys, sewing supplies (e.g., thread, needles, thimbles, buttons, snaps, etc.), toys, household items, working and non-working small appliances (call for drop-off information), books, clothes for babies/children, used candles.

Limited services are provided. Call for details.

Bloomington area. (Out of county groups must make an exchange to shop!)
Drop-Off Hours
Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; Saturday: 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Days/Hours of Operation
Thursday: 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., or by appointment only (with 24 hours of notice).
