Trestlewood

Overview

Trestlewood is a reclaimed wood company that produces flooring, timbers, lumber, millwork, siding, and other wood products from wood reclaimed from a wide range of salvage projects.

History

Trestlewood got their start when they acquired the salvaged rights to the 12-mile long Lucin Cutoff Railroad Trestle (across the Great Salt Lake) in March 1993. They now supplement the wood they get from the trestle with wood reclaimed from a variety of other sources.

Operations

Trestlewood has wood processing facilities at two locations--Promontory Point, Utah and Blackfoot, Idaho.

Materials Accepted

Trestlewood deals with a wide range of reclaimed wood ranging from one-inch boards to large timbers or poles. They accept reclaimed wood on a case-by-case basis. They are primarily interested in wood that is:

• Reclaimed;
• Solid and sound (i.e., not falling apart); and
• Untreated (although they do have certain industrial applications for which treated wood is an option).

Collection Service

Trestlewood typically takes delivery of wood in truckload quantities (48,000 pounds), and can make trucking arrangements. Those who have wood available typically need to be able to bundle and load units of wood neatly and efficiently.

Geographic Service Area

Trestlewood is interested in reclaimed wood in virtually any geographic area, domestic or international. Of course, wood located close to their Utah and Idaho facilities is the most attractive to them because of freight costs. They are primarily interested in wood that is available in full truckload quantities (48,000 pounds).
