The ReUse People of America (TRP)

Overview

The ReUse People of America (TRP) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation with its home office in Oakland and other offices throughout California and many other states. The mission of TRP is to keep usable building materials out of the solid waste stream and provide them for reuse. TRP is the only full service environmental organization offering deconstruction, material distribution, materials reuse, consulting and training in the country.

Clients served include private homeowners, Warner Bros. and Universal Studios; U.S. Navy and Air Force; Alameda, San Mateo, San Diego counties in California and Boulder, Colorado; Muncie, Indiana; Chicago and Kankakee, Illinois; Kansas City, Missouri; New Haven and Bridgeport, Connecticut; Dubuque, Iowa; Dayton and Columbus, Ohio.

To further enhance its mission of salvaging and reusing building materials TRP offers the following services:

Consulting, Deconstruction Training, and Project Management

These services include: project management, contractor training, job training for the unemployed and underemployed, salvage and reuse plans and diversion certifications, materials marketing and feasibility studies, and business planning for new materials exchange facilities and deconstruction companies. Deconstruction

TRP is a licensed demolition contractor for residential and commercial buildings, including military facilities. Deconstruction jobs have ranges from a 600 square foot residential addition to large military warehouses, large scale motion picture sets and resorts. The organization has deconstructed over 1,000 buildings and diverted in excess of 270,000 tons or 540,000,000 pounds of materials from local landfills.

Materials Exchange Facility

Open to the public. TRP salvages and sells used building materials.

Materials Accepted

All types of reusable building materials including, lumber (longer than six feet), windows, doors, sinks, cabinets, roofing tile, flooring, siding, plywood, hardware, and building materials. TRP does not accept concrete, asphalt, or wood materials that need to be ground or crushed. Tax donation receipts available upon request and IRS qualified appraisal services are available through our independent but TRP approved appraisers.
