Can printing.Materials You Will Need

  • Aluminum or tin can
  • Yarn or heavy string
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Tempera paints
  • Construction paper
  • Newspaper
  • Packaging tray
  • Bowl

Line your table with newspaper.

Have an adult remove both ends of the can. Pour some glue into a bowl. Cut a length of yarn about 12" long. Dip it in glue and wrap the yarn around the can, creating a pattern or design with the yarn. Add more lengths of yarn as needed. Let the glue dry completely.

Pour some paint in the tray. Roll the can in the paint, then roll the can over the construction paper to make a print. If you want to use more than one color, brush the paint onto the can in sections, then roll on the paper to print.
