Ms. Walker was appointed as Deputy Director for Debris Recovery in July 2020. She comes to the department from the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services where she started in 2008 as the Chief of the Office of Media Relations and Public Information. In 2013 she became Chief of the Division of Disaster Planning. In 2016 she was named Program Manager of the California Earthquake Early Warning (CEEW) Program and was Executive Officer of the CEEW Advisory Board. Most recently she was Branch Manager for Recovery Infrastructure and as Senior State Official for Camp Fire Recovery efforts.
With a public service career of 25 years, Ms. Walker has also served in communications and marketing roles with California Department of Transportation and the Office of Lieutenant Governor Abel Maldonado. She studied marketing and cross cultural communications at the University of California, Berkeley for three years, and earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Sedona.
