  • CalEPA's Big Earth Day Celebration

We've been celebrating Earth Day for weeks now here at CalRecycle, along with our CalEPA partner groups. We all got together and held our big annual celebration yesterday at CalEPA's downtown Sacramento headquarters. We even had a few special guests, like Gov. Gavin Newsom. Little did he know he'd have to share the spotlight with Recycle Rex, the Bag Monster, Queen Green, and a few other stately dignitaries. Take a look at the fun we had!

  • Money-Saving Tip: Don't Buy Stuff You Don't Need

The three Rs are in the order of sustainability: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Therefore, your first step when planning a shopping trip is to ask yourself if you really need what you’re planning to buy. Food for dinner? Of course! That cute, inexpensive top that will stretch out after a few times through the laundry? Maybe not. Whatever you decide, at least consider these tips and try to adopt a few. Remember, there is really no “away” when you throw something “away”--it’s still right here on our favorite planet in one form or another.
